SUMMARY:The Role of Policies in the Energy Transition (I-WEST)
DESCRIPTION:The Intermountain West Energy Sustainability & Transitions (I-WEST) project is focused on delivering a regionally relevant technology roadmap to transition six U.S. states to a carbon neutral energy economy. I-WEST encompasses Arizona\, Colorado\, Montana\, New Mexico\, Utah\, and Wyoming. The project is taking a place-based approach\, which prioritizes the geographical attributes\, economic landscape\, and societal readiness of the region. Learn more online at www.iwest.org. Why join this workshop? The goal of this workshop is to engage experts and decision makers in a dialog about policies tied to energy transition in the Intermountain West. This will encompass existing policies that both enhance and impede the region’s transition to carbon neutrality\, as well as identify policy gaps. Topics of interest include: Governmental policies at the federal\, state and Tribal levelsRegulatory policiesInnovation policiesPrivate-sector policiesOther objectives are to understand the contrast in policies across the I-WEST states\, to identify opportunities for multi-state policies to encourage inter-state cooperation\, and to explore opportunities for modifying existing or planned policies to make them more effective. Input gathered at this workshop will be used to assess the current energy-related policy landscape and help inform the I-WEST technology roadmap. Workshop formatThere will be six sessions to address policies related to various energy sectors\, each  consisting of short presentations from three panelists\, followed by Q&A. There will also be a general Q&A session at the end. The team at Resources for the Future will make a short introductory presentation and will moderate the panel discussions. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Register
