SUMMARY:Clean Energy on Mine Land Workshops (OCED)
DESCRIPTION:The historic investments in the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) present a multitude of opportunities to revitalize energy communities\, diversify workforces and support energy workers across the country. As more investments become available\, it’s crucial for energy communities to understand for which programs they are eligible and the benefits of those programs. The Interagency Working Group on Coal and Power Plant Communities and Economic Revitalization (Energy Communities IWG) is hosting a two-part webinar series highlighting IRA programs that benefit energy communities. The series will provide energy communities with the information they need to better understand how they can benefit from specific programs within the IRA. Key programs discussed in the first webinar include: U.S. Department of Energy Loan Program Office’s Energy Infrastructure Reinvestment program that can be used to repurpose shuttered fossil energy assets.Programs through the U.S. Department of Agriculture investing in rural America to support the clean energy transformation for a variety of energy community stakeholders. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n REGISTER\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n AgendaTopic Speakers & Topics Time EST Welcome & Overview Brian Anderson\, Ph.D. Executive DirectorEnergy Communities IWG 2:00 p.m. Keynote Remarks Kristina CostaDeputy Assistant to the President for Clean Energy Innovation and Implementation 2:05 p.m. IRA Energy Programs at Rural Development Clare SierawskiSenior Energy CounselorU.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development John McAuliffSenior AdvisorU.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development 2:15 p.m. Energy Infrastructure Reinvestment (EIR) Program Jigar ShahDirectorU.S. Department of Energy Loan Program Office 2:30 p.m. Q&A 2:45 p.m. Closing Remarks Brian Anderson\, Ph.D. Executive DirectorEnergy Communities IWG 2:55 p.m. Event Concludes 3:00 p.m.
